What are the differences between ESD rubber mats and vinyl mats?
Two-layer, ESD Rubber Mats for benches and work surfaces, significantly out perform any type of vinyl table covering.
Details: Why esd rubber mats out perform vinyl table mats
Vinyl mats contain plasticizers-Class 0, esd rubber mats are
plasticizer free.
Plasticizers migrate and outgas from vinyl and can cause contamination
problems.
Vinyl mats are single layer-Class 0, esd rubber mats have two
layers.
Single
layer mats have voltage gradient problems - two layer mats do not. Voltage
gradients allow sensitive parts to be exposed to transient voltages on the
work surface.
Single layer vinyl mats have voltage suppression problems-Class
0, esd rubber mats have no voltage suppression issues.
Voltage suppression deficiencies
allow residual charges to remain on sensitive parts. These charges become discharged
when the parts are touched. CDM failures are the result of charged parts becoming
discharged.
Vinyl mats are heat sensitive-Class 0, esd rubber mats will withstand contact
with hot solder irons.
Class 0 rubber is extremely resistant to temperature & chemicals.
It can be used for any application in electronics assembly and manufacturing.
Vinyl mats are easily soiled; the porous surface traps soil and stains-Class
0, esd rubber mats are not porous; they can be cleaned with any detergent.
The
number one reason for replacing mats is soiling. Class 0 rubber mats can be
used for many years because we incorporate the same stain black surface properties
that we use in our rubber flooring products. This means that you can clean
your work surface just like a floor-with soap and water.
